Wayne Edward Domann was born May 22,1948 in Leavenworth, Kansas, the son of Raymond George and Margaret "Marge" Innocence Ann Rogers Domann. He attended Oak Grove grade school at Mooney Creek and graduated from Winchester High School in 1966. He attended Highland for 1.5 years and played football his freshman year. In 1968, Wayne joined the work force for an insurance repair company in Lenexa where he learned trades that contributed to his talents in the home-building industry. He married Janice Kayleen Dalton on October, 18 1969 and they made their home in Lenexa until 1972. After moving to Leavenworth County in 1972, he worked as a contracted painter. In 1974, he returned to Jefferson County and worked at Rockwell for a number of years before trying his hand at farming in the '80s. It was something he had a love for but proved to be poorly timed during years of drought. By 1988, he decided to enter back into the construction industry. He worked as a painter and trim carpenter for several years before starting his own business of Domann Homes in 1992, building quality, custom homes in the Lansing and Leavenworth area. In 1997, he joined with a partnership in a developing company, moved to Lansing in 1998, and for the next 23 years was a builder and developer of residential homes. He retired in 2015 and moved back to the Winchester community in 2016 in order to spend time with family, watch his grandkids grow up, and be able to attend all their sporting events. He was a proud supporter of JCN athletics. Wayne built their last home in Winchester in 2019.
He will always be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love for gardening and the produce he shared with friends and neighbors, his high standards and expectations on his job sites, his stellar workman ship of beautifully crafted homes, his strong faith, and his genuine loyalty to his family and friends.
