Victoria Myers Obituary

Victoria A. Myers

March 16, 1957 - December 15, 2023

Harrodsburg, Kentucky - Victoria A. Myers, known as Vicky by friends and family, passed away on December 15, 2023 at her serene home on Lake Harrington after a brief illness. Her zest for life and adventurous spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Vicky was born and raised in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, the eldest daughter of Mary Myers and Daniel Vincent Myers. From an early age she demonstrated strong academic talent, and pursued a career in fundraising after graduating from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Prior to relocating to Kentucky, she lived in various memorable places such as Washington, D.C., Miami, Florida, and Bozeman, Montana. Some of her most rewarding career posts include working with the American Prairie Foundation, World Wildlife Fund, the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine Biology, and UK Healthcare. In recent years, she transitioned to providing crucial development services as a contractor with several non-profits on a local and national scale.

Vicky loved her family deeply. Some of her fondest memories included traveling the world with her husband and partner of 13 years, Hays Ellis, on trips to Jackson Hole, Ireland, Sicily, and beyond. She enjoyed many summers vacationing in Siesta Key with the Ellis family and exploring the state of Florida with her nephew, Joel. Vicky maintained an active lifestyle with hobbies of hiking, yoga, bicycling, scuba diving, home renovating, and more.

As a life-long animal lover, she had many beloved pets over the years. Notably, a favorite cat named Sugar Ray and most recently, her playful English shepherd, Woody, who will continue to be a source of joy for the family during this difficult transition.

Vicky was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Vincent Myers. She is survived by her husband, Hays Ellis, mother, Mary Myers, sister, Jane (Brian) Monaghan, nephew Joel (Sarah) Myers, and niece Marirose Monaghan; as well as her step-children Deica (Michael) Brown, Jason (Christin) Kingsolver, Jacob (Heather) Ellis, and Mollie (Joey) Thomas, and grandchildren Luke, Brenna, Allie, & Claire Kingsolver, Gavin & Grayson Brown, Emma & Jaxon Ellis, and Ruby Thomas.

More than anything, Vicky would want her life to be celebrated, rather than mourned. Friends and family are invited to join services at Clark Legacy Center in Nicholasville, Kentucky on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 11 AM ET followed by a catered wake.

In lieu of flowers & in honor of her philanthropic devotion, contributions may be made in Vicky's memory to: Christian Life Center of Harrodsburg, OperaLex, or Woodford Humane Society. clarklegacycenter.com

What a treasure Vicky was! Always smiling , such a hard worker for the Christain Life Center, which is where we met. I knew she was special but had no idea what all she had accomplished or did over her lifetime. Blessed to have known her! Gentle hugs to her family

I'll always remember how Vicky made everyone smile. She was really fun to be around and it was clear how much her family loved her. I will always have my positive memories of Vicky from my times seeing her in Sarasota & Lexington.
