Heuer, Loretta J.

Loretta J. Heuer, 91 of Kingsford formerly of Algoma, died Saturday, January 24 at Evergreen Assisted Living in Kingsford.

She was born on May 5, 1923, daughter of the late Clarence & Mathilda (Mueller) Marquardt. Loretta graduated from Algoma High School in 1939 and married Alvin Heuer on June 11, 1941. Together they farmed in Ahnapee Township for 27 years before moving to Algoma in 1968. She was an active 4-H leader and worked as a self-employed tax preparer. Loretta was a lifetime member and volunteer at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Algoma. She enjoyed playing cards and her favorite game, Rummikubs. In 2006 she moved to the Evergreen Assisted Living facility in Kingsford, MI to be closer to her daughter, Dorothy.

Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy "Dodie" (William) Wagner of Amberg, WI; six grandchildren, Tammy (Dave) Freilinger, Carrie Arndt (Marek) Nowaczdyk, Michelle (Jarmo) Kumpula, Lorrie (Tom) Droese, Amy (Bob) Habeck and John (Shante') Dallapiazza Jr.; 16 great-grandchildren; a son-in-law Richard Arndt and former neighbors and dear friends, Dennis & Barb Harmann.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn in 1988, her husband, Alvin in 1993, a brother, Elroy in 2001 and her son-in-law's second wife, Joan in 2012.

Visitation and Memorial Service will be held at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain at a date to be announced. Entombment will be at Nicolet Memorial Gardens in Green Bay, WI.

Memorials can be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Algoma.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to each of the "Angel Care Givers" at the Memory Care Unit at Evergreen Assisted Living for their special love and care.
