BETTY TOPPINO Obituary
BETTY KEY WEST - LUJAN TOPPINO LOUISE (LORD) LUJAN TOPPINO Betty Louise Lord Lujan Toppino went to be with our Lord on Wednesday,
October 8, at the age of 95. She was born Betty Louise Lord on October 3, 1930, to Raymond R Lord and Mamie Borden Lord. For the first few years of her life, she lived in a house on Patterson Avenue, which sat along the shoreline of Garrison Bight before Roosevelt Boulevard was built. The family later moved to 1104 Truman Avenue, where she grew up surrounded by love - her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins all lived nearby on Varela Street. Betty graduated from Key West High School in 1948 and went on to attend Florida State University in Tallahassee. It was there that she met her future husband, Arthur B. Lujan. The two were married in June 1950 and went on to build a beautiful life together. They welcomed a son, Arthur Wayne, in April 1951, and a daughter, Lauren Lynn, in September 1952. Arthur founded Southernmost Insurance Agency, while Betty devoted herself to being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She was also a faithful member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church on Duval Street, where she sang in the choir for many years. After Arthur's passing in September 1991, Betty later reconnected with Edward Toppino Sr., a widower and longtime family friend. Their friendship blossomed into love, and they were married on February 12, 2000. They enjoyed many happy years together until Edward's passing at the age of 100 in March 2025. Betty is survived by her son Arthur Wayne Lujan (Andrea) and daughter Lauren Lynn Lujan; her grandchildren Tiffany Toppino Barroso (Blane), Crystal Koppal (Matt), Arthur Wayne Lujan Jr. (Kathleen), Scarlet Moore Webb (Greg), Lance Lujan, and Andrew Lujan; and great-grandchildren Catelyn Balbuena, Michael Balbuena, Lindsey Koppal, Christian Koppal, Landon Koppal, Madilyn Barroso, Emery Webb, Miles Webb, Tucker Lujan, Cameron Lujan, and Winnie Lujan. She is also survived by her sister Joan Lord Papy. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 401 Duval Street, Key West, on Sunday, October 19, at 2:00 p.m. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in her memory.
