John Nicol Obituary

John C. Nicol II
John Charles Nicol II was born on October 27, 1973 to Richard and Melody Nicol, and named for his paternal grandfather. John passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2025, surrounded by family.
John grew up in Eugene, and graduated from Sheldon High School in 1991, where he played basketball and baseball. He also played baseball for the Eugene Pepsi Challengers. During the Fall of 1991 he walked on to the Oregon State baseball team as a pitcher, and he was also a member of the Theta Chi fraternity. In 1994 John transferred to the University of Oregon, where he graduated in 1996. A third generation U of O graduate, he was a lifelong Duck fan, and was a season ticket holder throughout his lifetime for football and basketball. Tailgaters will never be the same without him yelling "GO DUCKS" as he walked into the game.
In 2004 John married Melisa Jeppsen, with whom he had son Kellen Richard. They divorced and in 2014 John married Alison McCoy, with whom he had son McCoy Kelly, and daughter, Kamryn Melody. John was involved in all of his children's activities, especially coaching, where he was active in the Babe Ruth baseball program. He truly loved being a Dad, and his children were everything to him.
John is survived by his children, Kellen (20), McCoy (9), and Kamryn (7), sister Michelle Peterson (Chris), nephews Parker and Keaton Rogers, niece Emerson Rogers, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was a truly charismatic, charming man, who had numerous lifelong friends and will be missed and loved by so many. His mischievous smile and "butt chin" will forever be etched in our hearts. Rest easy, John, you've earned your wings.
