Thomas Malvin Castleberry

Thomas "Tom" Malvin Castleberry, age 73, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. While his passing brings deep sorrow, it also brings peace, he is no longer in pain. Tom was born on March 2, 1952, and spent most of his life in Oregon. He worked hard in many roles, including many years at Weyerhaeuser. A dedicated worker and a quiet soul, Tom lived simply but with a deep love for his family and the things he enjoyed. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Castleberry, and 4 daughters: Tasharra Dunlap, Dawn Castleberry, Marina Mlynczyk, and Brandy Duran. He was also a caring stepfather to Kim, Danielle and Robert. Tom was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought great joy and pride into his life, as well as his sisters, Nancy and Lynn, and numerous nieces and nephews. Tom wasn't a social butterfly, but to those who knew him well, he was easy to talk to and always willing to lend a hand. His kindness was quiet but unwavering. He had a calm presence, a generous heart, and was always there for those he loved. He found peace and joy in the outdoors-whether it was camping with family, hunting, fishing, or playing a round of golf. He also had a deep passion for reading, especially Westerns and science fiction, which fueled his imagination and offered him quiet moments of escape and reflection. But his greatest obsession was the Oregon Ducks. If the Ducks were playing, you could count on Tom to be watching or listening, fully immersed. It wasn't just a game for him, it was a ritual, a source of joy, and a connection to something bigger. Tom will be deeply missed by his family and all who loved him. His legacy lives on in the memories shared, the quiet strength he offered, and the deep devotion he had for the people and things he loved. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 7th, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Lively Park (Shelter A) in Springfield, Oregon.
