Chong Chang Obituary

Chong Houa Chang was born on March 15, 1922, and passed away on August 27, 2025. He was born in Luang Prabang, Muang Xieng Ngwne, Laos. To his parents, Xaocheng Chang and Wa Vang. Chong Houa's Mother, Wa Vang, passed away at the age of 101 years old in 2000, here in Rochester, Minnesota. Chong Houa was the first of three siblings: Tou Koua (brother), Maiv Mim (2 nd sister), and Maiv Npliab (3rd sister). His brother Koua diseased at a young age, and his two sisters also passed away. Maiv Npliab diseased over 47 years ago, and Maiv Mim diseased over 14 years ago. He is a loving father, a handy farmer, and a dedicated member of the Hmong Baptist Church in Rochester, Minnesota. He had a strong faith in Jesus Christ. His spouse, Sia Vue, passed away on April 20, 2009. Together, they had ten children, but six diseased at a young age. The four surviving children are Jandua Chang, Lou Chang, Zongvue Chang, and Yer Chang. Chong Houa Chang and Sia Vue had a total of 27 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Chong Houa enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and hiking. He was a Hmong instrumentalist, playing the Hmong Can and Hmong flute. (Qeej Hmong, Raj Ncas Hmong, Ximxaus Hmong). In 1960, Chong Houa and Sia had 3 children, which was the year that he was drafted into the military service during the Civil War of Laos. Well-known Pathet Lao and the Local Government are against each other. He had served for the local Government throughout 1965, and he was still on military duty. But Chong Houa was recruited into the CIA's military to fight in the Secret War against the Viet Cong communist forces. (World War II). After serving long and grueling years as an infantryman on the front lines of the military, Chong Houa missed his family dearly and returned home. In 1973 Chong Houa and Sia had moved his family to start new life in new city called Ban xon Na xu, wish the CIA/SGU 272 airport that his son Jandua Chang worked to served military supplies, and refugee foods and supplies. Chong Houa, a Member of CIA/SGU Laos Veterans of America Inc. To our relative and friends, from the depths of our hearts, we thank you.
