Jerome Laska Obituary

Jerome "Jerry" Laska, a devoted family man, avid outdoorsman, of the Red Wing community, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on November 25, 1949, in Winona, Minnesota, to Julius and Adeline (Kohal) Laska, Jerry grew up with a passion for hunting and fishing. His Brittany Spaniels Raizn and Sayge meant the world to him. On December 14, 1968, Jerry married the love of his life, Jacalyn Steele, and together they built a loving family. Jerry is survived by his children, Terry (Candace) Laska of Ellsworth, Wisconsin, John (David) Laska of Red Wing, Minnesota, and Tim (Candi) Laska of Wyoming, Minnesota; six grandchildren; three brothers, Pudge, Bob, and Joe Laska; and one sister, Cora. Preceding Jerry in death were his beloved wife, Jackie (Jacalyn); brother, William (Billy) Kohal; and sister, Mary Hammond. In a poignant tribute to their enduring love, Jerry and Jackie's final wish was to take one last "date" to the place where their first date began. Though Jackie passed before Jerry, his love for her remained strong, and he carried her memory with him until the end. A celebration of Jerry's life will be planned at a later date, where family and friends will gather to share stories, memories, and laughter, honoring the life of a remarkable man who touched the hearts of all who knew him. Rest in peace, Jerry. Your love, legacy, and memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved you.

So many rugged experiences we had commercial fishing, I wish we had written a book about it.
