John Rownd Obituary

John Patrick Rownd died Tuesday, April 22, 2025 in Rochester. Mr. Rownd, 82, of 3955 Polar Lane NE Rochester died after a lengthy illness. John was born on April 20, 1943 in Mitchell, SD to George K. and Leone F. Rownd (Putz). The family moved to Rochester when John was 4 years old, after he lost his left hand in an accident. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1962. He married Karen Ann Borst on May 22, 1995 in Rochester. He began his career in sales shortly after graduating from high school. John was an outstanding wood carver and was past president of Rochester Woodcarver's Club. He loved to fish and hunt. He never let the loss of his hand stand in his way. He is survived by his wife Karen, two sons Mark (Bobbi) and Scot (Carla) five grandchildren Aidan, Emmett, Isaac, Hallie, and Shania Rownd, one step-grandchild Christopher Kunz and one brother Douglas of Oronoco, MN.
