Thomas Slatten Obituary

Thomas (Tom/Tommy) Slatten passed away Tuesday August 26, 2025 at Emerald Crest in Burnsville. He was born November 11, 1937 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He was married to Nancy on November 19, 1960 and graduated in 1973 from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science (with distinction) degree in Food Science. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Tom is survived by his daughters Ann Larson and Sara Mathies (Raymond), his 5 Grandchildren; Justin Larson, Heather Larson, Alyssa Mathies (Michael Gutierrez), Aric Mathies (Kirsten) and Robert Mathies (Kirsten), 3 Great Grandchildren; Emilia Larson, Miles and Sutton Mathies, and his sister and brother along with their families; Sandra Bergeron, and Steven (Monica) Slatten. Tom is preceded in death by his parents Hiram and Sylvia Slatten and his wife Nancy. Tom enjoyed so many things in his life from cooking, fishing, showing and grooming his Miniature Schnauzers, and wood carving; and let's not forget dancing! In the past several years he has tried to perfect the art of sourdough bread making and learning how to play the piano. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday November 1, 2025 for family and close friends. Further information will be forthcoming. Rochester Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements. Memories and condolences of Tom may be shared at rochestercremationservicesmn.com
