Greenville, SC native and long-time Pawleys Island, SC resident Charles
Hugh (Hugh) Patrick Jr. passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025, at his home. He was 91 years old.
Hugh is survived by Sue Taylor Patrick, his wife of 20 years, his brother Philip (Phil) Stone Patrick of Greenville, SC and his sister, Anne Williamson Glisson who predeceased his death. Surviving children are two sons Charles Hugh (Pat) Patrick III, and Andrew (Andy) McFall Patrick and three stepsons Ross McConnell, Jim McConnell, Chis McConnell and stepdaughters Sharon Willis and Jan Taylor. Other survivors include grandchildren; Andrew Patrick, Allison Patrick, Ross Blake McConnell, Vince McConnell, Alex McConnell, Mitchell McConnell, step grandchildren; Ryan Kennedy and William Nelson, and a great grandson, Douglas I. Greenlee.
Born in Greenville, SC February 3, 1934, he was the son of the late Charles Hugh Patrick, Sr. of Varnville, SC and Mildred Wysong Patrick of Greenville, SC. Hugh was a devoted member of All Saints Church Pawleys Island, SC where he served on the vestry, attended Men's Bible Studies and served as an acolyte for a number of years. Hugh was proud to be a Christian, asking the Lord Jesus Christ to come into his life.
Hugh graduated from Greenville High School where he played football. He graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Industrial Management with a minor in textile chemistry. At that time, Clemson was a military school which helped graduates prepare for service in the military and life in general.
He spent his business career in the textile dyeing and printing industry working for Burlington Industries and Milliken Company prior to joining C.H. Patrick & Co., a supplier to the textile dyeing and printing industry. In 1971, he and his brother, Phil, formed Pat-Chem, Inc. for the manufacture of textile chemicals. After retiring in 1993, Hugh moved to Pawleys Island, SC beckoned by his love for boating, fishing and golf. He and Mack Finley formed H & M Marine Products for the sale of marine maintenance products. He was always pursuing new endeavors.
Hugh faithfully served his industry and communities as President of the American Association of Textile Chemists & Colorists, the Greenville YMCA and the Greenville Country Club. He was an exceptional leader blessed with integrity, wisdom, great judgement and love. He always "took care" of his family, employees and many friends. They knew that he was always there for them. And he was a true southern gentleman.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Tidelands Waccamaw Hospital and Tidelands Community Hospice.
Burial will be at All Saints Cemetery on Monday, March 17, 2025, at 3:00 P.M. followed by a memorial service in the Large Sanctuary.

charity of one's choice.
