Donna, Liz, and family,
Our deepest sympathies in the loss of your dad, & grandaddy. We consider ourselves very fortunate to be a part of your "extended family", and to have met him. He truly was a wonderful man. We love to hear all of the stories that you tell about him. During this difficult time, please remember those wonderful stories, and find comfort in them. I'm sure 73 years doesn't seem like it was long enough, but remember you will see him again some day and have eternity to spend with him! We love you all and are praying for you! May God comfort you and give you the strength and peace that only he can give to get you through this difficult time. (The Maudlins)

Josh, I am so sorry to her about your dad. You know that my boys and I loved him so much and thought the world of him. He was a very special man. Your are very lucky man to have a special dad like him. My boys and I have wonderful memories of you and your family at the ballgames. I loved the way he would always tell me that he was more nervous over the ballgames than you were.

Stell and all the family,
I learned of Gerald's passing by reading it in the online News & Observer. It saddened me. I immediately recalled all the wonderful times your family and mine had together when we would cook out.
I hope your adjustment to such a great loss in your lives will be smooth. No doubt, Gerald's light will forever shine in the hearts and minds of those whose lives he touched.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
