Kenneth Neil Pollock Obituary

NEW BERN | Kenneth Neil "Papa" Pollock, 86, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport. He was born and reared in Jones County on the Fred Whitaker Pollock family farm. He attended North Carolina State University and served in the U.S. Marine Corps as Sergeant during the Korean Conflict. He worked with Carolina Telephone & Telegraph from 1958-1985, starting as Central office repairman and then moving up to Central office foreman with Carolina Telephone Company. After retirement he worked contract special assignments for new customers over of a period of 2-3 years. He received his NC Real Estate License and worked 4-5 years. Life enjoyments were his immediate family and extended families. Kenneth was a happy handyman around home and always happy to help with building and repairs at his church and for neighbors and friends. He loved the outdoors. Doing his yard work and often returning to his family acreage in Jones County to walk his property down to the river and reminisce. Mr. Pollock was a member of First Baptist Church of New Bern. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Harden Pollock; his parents, Frederick W. and Edna McDaniel Pollock; and his siblings, Roger Pollock, Edna Earle Parker, Marie Banks, Clifton Pollock and Harold Pollock. Surviving are two daughters, Joy Duff and husband John, of New Bern and Tammy Pollock of Blounts Creek; his granddaughter, Hillary Duff of Raleigh; and sister-in-law, Clarice Davenport of Garner. Funeral services will be at Pollock-Best Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017, with Dr. Richard Seagle officiating. Burial will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the funeral from 12:30-2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church of New Bern, 239 Middle St, New Bern, NC 28560.
