Pearl Turner Obituary

PINK HILL - Pearl Jones Turner was born May 22, 1930 and entered her heavenly home June 22, 2012. She was preceeded in death by her parents Joe and Dora Jones, her husband Lumas, son Jerry, grandson Douglas and daughter-in-law Wilda. She is survived by her loving companion and very special member of our family Mort Mercer; her children Jimmie and Bunny, Harold and Linda, Joey and Rie and Jeff and Teresa; grandchildren Steven and Leanne, Michelle and David, Jennifer and Vince, Donnie and Jessica, Scott and Jennifer, Heather and Jay, Tyler and Helen and Maegan; great-grandchildren Cody, Kaia, Bret, Gillian, Danielle, Drew, Emily, Zack, Tuff; great-great grandchild Peighton and soon to be Clara. Pearl married Lumas on Oct. 5, 1944. He captured her heart at a very young age and from there they spent over 50 years together. During their 50 years they raised five boys whom she loved and cherished with all her heart. She worked all her life to raise her children. From farming, restaurants, sewing factories and finally retiring from Reeves Brothers. She continued her education after retirement and enrolled in several classes at LCC. When she was not busy with school she filled her days playing with her grandchildren. When Lumas became sick she dropped it all and devoted herself to caring for him without ceasing. Pearl was very active in her church until her health began to fail. Two knee replacements, one hip replacement and a very bad back kept her in constant pain which she endured daily. She still went to church when she could and took time to help anybody that needed it. On special occasions still making her famous "Pearl Turner Chocolate Cake." Although her health was not good, she made it through with the help of Mort, who was right there by her side. It is a very special honor to know this man who loved our mother so much. We are so glad to have him as part of our family. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Sunday, June 24 at Pink Hill Funeral Home. Funeral service Monday, June 25 at 2 p.m. at the LDS Church in Albertson, graveside service to follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill. Online obit may be posted at pinkhillfuneralhome.com.
