Peggy Harper Obituary

KINSTON - Peggy Waller Harper, 85, of Kinston, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, N.C. She was born on April 9, 1932, in Goldsboro, N.C. to the late Harry Tuttle Waller and Lottie Lucille Waller. She was a member of Woodington United Methodist Church. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Hubert F. Waller and Harry T. Waller Jr. (Tut); son David Michael Conner (Mike); daughter Sheila J. Harper; and granddaughter, Melissa A. Jones. Peggy was a kind compassionate and loving person and this was evident in her 42 year career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Peggy worked in hospitals in Florida, California, and finally Lenoir Memorial Hospital. She was deeply devoted to her friends and family. Survivors include her daughter, Shearon H. Garcia and husband Bobby; sons, Jay Daniel Conner Jr (Danny) and wife Jenni, and Oscar ""Doc"" Harper all of Kinston. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Peggy is also survived by one sister, Betty Waller Bumgarner of New Mexico. Services will be held at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with the Reverend Jimmy Miller officiating, on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. with visitation immediately following and at other times, her home and her son Danny's home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lenoir County SPCA, PO Box 1481, Kinston, NC 28503. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Kitty Askins Hospice and UNC Healthcare for their compassion and kindness and a special thank you to Kimberly Darden. I was saddened to learn Peggy hadpassed on but feel sure she is having quite a reunion and able to look on Jesus face everyday!I learned too late of her passing to attend funeral but I would like to send condolences to her family.I worked with her many years at LMH and she was kind and compassionate to all her pts and to staff..she had the best sense of humor and I hope to hear that laughter again

I remember Peggy fondly from working at UNC Lenoir Healthcare (Lenoir Memorial in our day). She was a devoted caregiver to her patients and a friend to most every employee she met.
My sincere sympathy to Peggy's family. May God's grace comfort you in the days ahead.
