RANDY PREBLE Obituary

RANDY EUGENE PREBLE Greensburg - Randy Eugene "Jake" Preble, 71, died September 10, 2023, at his home in Greensburg, Kansas, He was born May 11, 1952, in El Dorado, Kansas, the son of Robert Preble and Betty Maxine (Cole) Hogan. Jake grew up and attended school in Neodesha, Kansas, moving to Greensburg in 1968 and graduated from Greensburg High School in 1970. He was a Controls Technician for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company, retiring after 40 years. He also served as an EMT for a time. Jake was a Boy Scout Leader, Sunday school teacher at the First Christian Church, and a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church, all in Greensburg. On October 2, 1970, Jake married Relena Acre in Greensburg. She survives. Jake and Relena met each other while they were in high school. Their favorite hangout spots were the Gulf gas station and Sadie's Cream Cup. Jake worked part time at the Gulf gas station while in high school. Jake loved being around family and friends. He enjoyed playing tennis, softball, and bowling. Jake took his family snow skiing during the winter. He liked watching NASCAR, and KU basketball. He always listened to oldies music and loved to play the drums. Flying kites was one of his favorite hobbies while being with his kids and grandkids. Other survivors include two sons Shawn Preble and Rocky Preble, both of Greensburg, three daughters Laura Gwin and husband Bob, Haviland, Kansas, Darline Spitulski and husband Bryan, California, Ashley Gottschalk and husband Trent, Logan, Kansas, thirteen Grandchildren Megan Gwin, Vincent Gwin, Samantha Gwin, Stephanie (Gwin) Conrad, John Gwin, Camille, Taden, Conner, and Tenille Gottschalk, Reese Spitulski, Alissa Skipper, Zach Spitulski, Austin Spitulski, two Great-grandchildren Kayden Buettner and Audrey Gwin, Jake had two special nephews Joe Acre and Levi Smith, Greensburg. One brother Ronnie (Dean) Preble and wife Shirley, Tacoma, Washington, Jake was preceded in death by his parents Robert Preble and Betty (Cole) Hogan, and two brothers Robert and Michael Preble. Memorial services and celebration of Jake's life will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the Kiowa County Community Building, Greensburg. Memorials are suggested to Greensburg Boy Scout Troop #211, in care of Fleener Funeral Home, PO Box 41, Greensburg, Kansas 67054.
