Carrol Furrow Obituary

Carol Anne Furrow, born on March 30, 1953, in Kirksville, Missouri, passed
away peacefully in Kansas City, Missouri, on October 17, 2025. She was a
person whose life held many challenges, but her determination shone
through by her unwavering belief in the purpose of life and the little joys that
come with it.
Carol's early years were entrenched in Kirksville, MO, where she graduated
from Kirksville High School in 1971. She pursued further education by
attending classes at Northeast Missouri State University, laying a
foundation for her future. Throughout her life, Carol demonstrated
versatility in her career, successfully working in various capacities including
housekeeping, factory employment, and eventually starting a daycare out of
her own home, showcasing her ability to adapt and thrive under different
circumstances and a constant changing environment. In the early 1990s,
Carol moved to Columbia, MO, where she began vocational training. This led
to several fruitful years as an administrative assistant.
Though her life was dotted with ups and downs, Carol remained steadfast in
her spiritual belief that everything and everyone has a purpose. This deep-
seated faith guided her through life's trials, and she was admired for her
strength and resilience.
One of the most cherished aspects of Carols life was her partnership with her
beloved husband, George Wayne Furrow. They married in December of 1993
and shared nearly 31 beautiful years together before Wayne's passing in late
August of this year. Their home in Kansas City witnessed over 20 years of
love, laughter, and shared experiences, a testament to their enduring bond.
Their strong tie and unwavering love for each other was a force that
everyone who knew them could see and admire. In true romantic form, as
the way they met when Wayne stopped to help Carol with a broken shoe one
day in an office building hallway, she followed him to rest in the stars 8
weeks later on October 17th.
Carol is survived by her sons, Chuck van Zandt IV and Chad (Wendy) van
Zandt, and her brother, Larry (Alta) Whitney. She joins her deceased family
members, including her father, Cloy Whitney; her mother, Ann Whitney; and
her husband, George Wayne Furrow, who will be remembered fondly by all
who knew and loved them.
Carols final resting place will be alongside her late husband at Forest Hill
and Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City, MO. Her legacy of love, perseverance,
and faith will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
