Karla Dawn Walker, born on September 2, 1964, in Kirksville, Missouri, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, in Columbia, Missouri. She led a life that exemplified love and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Karla graduated from Kirksville High School and later dedicated her life to nurturing her family, consistently demonstrating her unwavering love and dependability.
Known for her remarkable ability to show up for anyone in need, Karla had a natural gift for making those around her feel valued, supported, and loved, even during challenging moments. Her warmth extended to her involvement in various community activities, where she fostered connections through attending school and sporting events with her children and grandchildren. As a devoted mother and grandmother, she cherished swim days at the pool and any opportunity to create lasting memories with her family, celebrating the simple joys of life together.
Karla is survived by her son, Joshua Craig (Raelynn Lowe); daughters Roselene Smith (JR Risher) and Elizabeth (Nick) Chatterton; and her beloved grandchildren: Mystikal, Gauge, Serenity, Bella, and Harper Craig; Braden Young; Brady Barfuss; Anna Barfuss; Joshua Call; Oaklynn and Jaxston Chatterton; Ava and Layton Lowe. Karla's legacy will continue to grow with the addition of her great-granddaughter, who is expected to arrive soon.
She is predeceased by her father and mother, as well as her long-time significant other, Ronnie Current. Their love and presence in her life fueled her strength and kindness, shaping the beautiful soul she became.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Karla's life during the visitation on September 6, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by the funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Both events will take place at the Playle-Rimer-Millard Family Funeral Chapel located at 2100 E Shepherd Ave, Kirksville, MO 63501.
