Nancy Jayne Obituary

Nancy King Jayne, born on July 29, 1943, died on September 26, 2025, at the age of 82, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Nancy moved from Boston, Massachusetts to Kirksville, Missouri, during her seventh-grade year, where she met Randy Jayne - a friendship that blossomed into a lifelong love. They were soul mates. She followed Randy to Colorado as he attended the United States Air Force Academy, and in 1966, they married, beginning nearly 60 years of love, partnership, and shared adventures.

As an Air Force wife, Nancy embraced the challenges and changes of military life with grace and quiet strength, always creating a warm and welcoming home wherever they lived. In 1980, she and Randy moved to Webster Groves, Missouri where they raised their two children and made deep friendships that lasted to this day. Nancy pursued her passion by returning to school to earn a degree in interior design. She went on to start her own business and worked as a professional interior designer for 20 years, bringing beauty, creativity, and personalized style to the homes and lives of her clients. After their retirement, Nancy and Randy treasured their time wintering at their home on Sanibel Island and traveling the world on adventures.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Randy Jayne, and their two children: Kathryn Jayne Drennen (born 1969) and her husband Eric Drennen, and Matthew R. Jayne (born 1975) and his wife Dana Jayne. She was the proud grandmother of Maggie, Jack, and Ava, and a loving step-grandmother to Gabrielle and Sydney, all of whom brought her great joy.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Anne King, her father, Nelson King, and her sister, Judith King Mittler.

Nancy will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, resilience, and unwavering love. Though her final years were marked by the challenges of Alzheimer's, her spirit and grace remained a beacon to her family and friends.

A service to celebrate Nancy's life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 1pm at Eliot Chapel in Kirkwood Missouri. Followed by a celebration of her life at the home she shared with Randy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice.

Kingie, we had decades of fun together, and I will always cherish our friendship! From cheerleading to driving your mom to Colorado, to helping me through widowhood, sharing our kids' wedding days, walking the beaches of Sanibel, exploring Occoquan and the White House and Old Town Alexandria and everything in between! You were my true friend and I will miss you so very, very much always. Rest peacefully, my girlfriend.
Love and hugs forever.
