Very sorry to read of Walter's passing. He was one of my first friends. We were classmates from when his family returned from a visit to Germany in first grade until we graduated from college. We had lots of fun as children at New Hope school and in 4-H. We were close competitors in school but he was the better speller. He was loyal and adventurous. After college I only saw Walter a few times but we were always friends.
