Carrie Kathleen (Kathy) Yates Longaker passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at home on March 10, 2018. In Port Orchard, WA. She was 70 years old.

Kathy was born in San Francisco, California June 11, 1947, to Joseph and Betty Yates. She grew up in Lakewood, California and was an avid swimmer. She attended Lakewood High from 1962 to 1965 and was part of the year book staff, she was the editor-in-chief her senior year. She continued her education at CLBS. She married Ray Longaker, Jr. May 3, 1969. They lived in California and Guam before settling in Washington in 1980.

Kathy was a very creative, kind and loving woman. She was an award-winning quilter, loved fiber arts, and a vivid story teller. She wrote a collection of poems about family members, past and present that still delight everyone to this day. She was also a genealogist who had uncovered so much of our family history and helped to connect us to distant family. She was baker and cook and loved entertaining. Every year her family and friends looked forward to her Fourth of July Celebrations, it was her favorite holiday. Every occasion, no matter how big or how small, was a reason to get family together, she brought so much love, laughter, and joy to every occasion.

She is survived by her husband, Ray Longaker, Jr and children, Misty Longaker Buchanan and her Husband Aaron Buchanan, Ray Longaker, III and his wife Sandra Longaker, and Joseph Longaker and his fiance Brigitte Estvanik. Her mother Betty Yates, and sister Sue Yates Stone. Her grandchildren, Patrick O'Shaughnessy and his fiance Jaime Fitch, Parker Buchanan, and Piper Buchanan.

She was preceded in death by her beloved father Joseph Gerald and brother Joseph Gerald, Jr.

A memorial service will be held at Silverdale Lutheran Church on March 17, 2018 at 11:00 am. The family requests that a donation be made in Kathy's memory to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers. An online memorial can be seen at www.lewischapel.com.
