Roger Louis Paschal

September 4, 1960 - January 21, 2021

Roger Louis Paschal, 60, of Bremerton Washington passed away due to heart failure on Thursday, January 21, 2021, while enjoying a beautiful vacation with great friends in Saint Lucia.

Roger was born September 4, 1960, in Bremerton Washington to Robert and Dorothy (Holland) Paschal. He graduated in 1978 from Central Kitsap High School and then graduated from Olympic College.

After several years of working and living in Alaska, Roger returned home to Bremerton with his business partner and purchased the Cloverleaf Sports Bar and later Ryen's Restaurant. Roger currently served as Chief Operations Officer with Custom Design Roofing in Gig Harbor.

Roger was involved in his community and served on many community service organizations. His Special Olympics softball team was one of his fondest. He was active in the East Bremerton Rotary, the Kitsap Bremerton Athletic Roundtable, the Kitsap Rodeo Committee and the Cowpokes, the Pierce County Rodeo, the West Sound Orca Football team and was a member of the Tacoma Elks.

Roger enjoyed coaching youth sports immensity and made many close friends in the process. He coached all three of his children in sports; baseball, basketball, and soccer.

Along with his interest in sports and playing softball, Roger enjoyed traveling, hanging out at rodeos with his favorite people, riding horses, boating, gardening, leather crafting, art, photography, and attending his children's school activities. He enjoyed time spent as a devoted dog g-pa.

Roger is survived by his mother Dorothy Paschal, Aunt Helen Rohrer, his three children; Ryen Stone and her husband David, Riley Paschal, and Regan Paschal, and life partner Cynthia Davis, 3 stepchildren; Erik Engelgau, Alexis Engelgau, and Andrea Williams, 6 grandchildren Ryder, Alston, AvaJean, Piper, Hadlea, and Edith plus 2 fur babies, Hemi and Nori. In addition, he leaves behind many beloved cousins and countless friends that he loved like family.

A special thanks to Bill and Carrie Phinizy, Rogers wonderful travel friends, and the Saint Lucia Sandals Grand staff for all their love, empathy, support, and compassion.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date TBA. A memorial will be placed in Rogers name at Lions Park. Donations may be sent to Bremerton Parks and Recreation-Roger Paschal's Memorial Fund @ 680 Lebo Blvd, Bremerton WA 98310.

Dear Roger,

It seems like yesterday, but it was over forty years ago when we met. It was a slightly overcast morning with the sun starting to break as you and a couple of friends walked across a ball field where we huddled up with others for the start of the rowdy McNeil's Island softball team. Being from rival high schools (CKHS 78 & BHS 79), we naturally sized each other up, but as we started to play ball we discovered we liked each other. When we scored our first case of beer, we discovered we liked each other a lot.

That was the start of friendship that lasted many years. We had so much fun and there was so much laughter. Ours was a friendship like out of one of those old cowboy movies... You were the Gene Autry figure and I was the silly side-kick always behind your shoulder saying a catch-phrase like "Hey Rog... Ya wanna here something ironic???" - I would not have had it any other way.

It was only a few months ago when I saw you last. As usual, our conversation was always filled with smiles and laughter as we reminisced. We made plans, after this awful pandemic, to go out for beers at the National Tavern near where we worked (Kitsap Lumber) so many years ago. I was looking forward to it... All the shared memories and all the laughs we would have (Like when you you caught me doing 360 brodies with the Kitsap Lumber forklift). Maybe someday I'll go there for a few beers and remember my friend... But I'm really going to miss all the smiles and laughter. But right now, I am filled with a deep sadness because I always thought I'd see you again.

Roger - You were my friend. I will always miss you because I will never forget you.

With love - your friend (and trusty side-kick) always,
-Mike McWilliams

P.S.
Whatever is for you now, you're with your Father again. Please tell him I said, "Howdy". He was as kind and decent a man as I ever met.

My deepest and sincere condolences to your Mom, family and friends.
