BOBBIE G. McCLENDON

McCLENDON, BOBBIE G. - age 77, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Illinois, after a lingering illness. She was born in Madisonville, Tennessee, to the late Samuel Douglas and Nellie McClendon. She graduated from High Point High School and was a member of the Church of God in Madisonville. At the age of 19, Bobbie moved to Joliet, Illinois, where she retired from Western Electric Company, now known as AT&T. Bobbie attended Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Joliet, Illinois, under the leadership of Pastor Ricky Freeman. Bobbie was a faithful fan of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. She never missed a game! She was an excellent cook and was well known for her chicken and dumplings as well as her spaghetti salad. She loved to entertain!!! You were always promised a good time, a good meal, and lots of laughs when you were in her presence. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Eric Todd McClendon; sister, Elsie Brown; brother, Melvin McClendon; and brother-in-law, Charles Latham. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, sons, Larry (Saundra) McClendon, Knoxville, and Orlando McClendon, Joliet, IL; three granddaughters, Shanece and Shayla, of Nashville, Ciarra and a grandson, Caleb, both of Joliet, IL; sisters, Patricia Latham and Bertha (Roy) Inman; brother, J.R. (Patricia) McClendon; aunt, Reba Edwards, all of Sweetwater; special devoted cousin, Mrs. Susie Barber, of Joliet, IL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special thanks to the Symphony nursing staff and Mercedes Roberts, close friends, Ida Dantzler, Ruby Joyce Crosby, and Geneva Caradine, all of Joliet, IL. Bobbie's home going celebration will be Sunday, December 7, 2014, at Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 910 Wright Street, Sweetwater, TN 37874. Family visitation: 1:30 - 2:30 p.m., with service to follow with Elder Lloyd Jones officiating. Interment: Park City Cemetery, Madisonville, TN. The family will receive friends at the home of Larry McClendon: 1707 Wayside Road Knoxville. Arrangements by Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville.
