SUBLETT, CARL CECIL - 1919-January 24, 2008, slipped away peacefully. Born Johnson County, Kentucky. Became machinist, met lifelong wife Helen Davis, United Aircraft, Hartford, CT, married 1942. Veteran of WWII. Moved to Knoxville, TN, in 1954. Commercial artist. Art professor, The University of Tennessee, 1966-1982. Survivors: wife Helen Davis Sublett; daughter, Carol and Mark Colby, Union, Maine; son, Eric Davis Sublett, Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Jason Carl Witham and wife Anita, Taylor Burt Witham. Knox County, Maine. Hall and Bibber Funeral Home, Thomaston, Maine. Doug Anderson, officiating, January 29, 2008. In lieu of flowers, donations to Terry Burnette Scholarship Fund, c/o UT School of Art, 1715 Volunteer Blvd, Knoxville, TN 37996-2410.

Mr Sublett was a good and gentle man. He quietly enriched many lives many ways. His life deserves celebration.

There is now a void left from his physical presence but his spirit will always fill us. I am honored to have had him as my professor at UT. He will be greatly missed by the entire art community.
