ELEANOR RADER Obituary

RADER, ELEANOR WALL - age 92, of Knoxville, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2014, surrounded by loved ones. She was a past member of the board of directors of Ramsey House, and active in the United Methodist Women, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Daughters of American Colonists, the Colonial Dames, the Magna Carta Dames, and many civic organizations. She was born in Elberton, Georgia, on October 24, 1921, where she grew up. She attended the Georgia State College for Women (now Georgia College and State University) and afterwards had a career as an accountant with Gulf Oil in Atlanta. There she was introduced to Charles Rader, a successful young attorney from Knoxville, and they were married on November 19, 1949. Ellie was a wonderful cook and loved to entertain friends and family. She also had a sense of adventure and loved to travel. She was an avid fan of Tennessee Vols football and a longtime supporter of the Clarence Brown Theatre. Ellie was a caring person, devoted to her family and friends, and always supported and encouraged others. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Charles E. Rader; her father, George Nunnelee Wall; mother, Leo Maxwell Wall; brothers, John Oliver Wall and James Nunnelee Wall. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth Rader and Donald McKee of Cincinnati, Anne R. Primm and Trent Primm of Knoxville, Linda Rader and David Pierson of Atlanta, and Candace Rader and Jay Horsley of Carrollton, GA; grandchildren, Bradford McKee and Charles McKee of Cincinnati, Kathryn Primm of Durham, NC, Kristin Primm of Knoxville, Gwendolyn Pierson and Marian Pierson of Atlanta; step grandchildren, Samuel Horsley and Sarah Horsley; two nephews, Henry Wall of Franklin, NC, and George Wall of Spartanburg, SC; nephew by marriage, Charles R. Adams; and special caregiver and friend, Dorothy Blakely of Knoxville. A celebration of Ellie's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with Rev. William J. Fowler and Rev. Cabel Trent officiating. Private interment will be at Highland Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends before the service from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Kay Center at Church Street United Methodist Church, 900 Henley St. Knoxville TN 37902, or to Ramsey House, or to the charity of your choice.
