Ella Ruth Bennington Thompson

THOMPSON, ELLA RUTH BENNINGTON - 84 of Knoxville, Tn. and formerly of Rural Retreat, Va. passed away Friday, September 26, 2008. She was born in Grayson Co., Va. on October 26, 1923. Ella Ruth was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in the Cedar Springs Community of Rural Retreat, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Bane Thompson and a brother, Ralph Clay Bennington. She is survived by: A sister: Billie B. Arnold of Knoxville, Tn; a sister-in-law: Rosemarie Bennington of Indialantic, Fl; several nieces & nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2008 at the Lindsey Funeral Chapel with Mr. Joel Arnold officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. prior to the service. A graveside committal service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family suggests that those who prefer, may make memorials to the Alzheimer's Association or to the charity of one's choice. Lindsey Funeral Home, Rural Retreat, Va. is in charge of arrangements.
