Evelyn Halverson Obituary

HALVERSON, EVELYN (POLLY) - born February 11, 1925 in Bowden, Georgia, passed away Tuesday December 11, 2007. She met and married her husband Arthur Ray Halverson, Jr., who was a B-24 pilot during World War II. They were married for 54 years. Her first love was her family including her beloved husband and one daughter Gail McNees. She leaves 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, one sister Bonnie Barrow, of Carrollton, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband and her brother, Darrow Spruill of Mapleton, GA. In 1953 she and her husband moved to Atlanta, Georgia and began their long successful career in building. She was the only female registered builder at that time, specializing in decorating the homes their company built. They finished their building career by constructing their dream home on Lake Lanier. In their retirement, they began to build a business in antiques and art in North Georgia and East Tennessee. When her husband's health began to fail, they made Gatlinburg their full time residence. After Mr. Halverson's death she began her third career in concierge work starting at the River Terrace Resort and later with her beloved friend Doug Brooks at the Park Vista. Throughout her life she demonstrated a positive attitude and appreciated the beauty in the world. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the American Liver Foundation, Mid South Chapter, 1010 June Road, Suite 101, Memphis, TN, 38119, www.liverfoundation.org (1-800-223-0197).
