Frank Malcolm Stribling

Frank Malcolm Stribling passed away on May 8, 2018 at Ben Atchley Tennessee Veteran's Home.

Born in Denver, TN on June 16, 1924 to Mary and Leo Stribling, Frank attended high school in Benton, KY, and served in the US Navy from 1942 through 1946. He graduated from the University of Tennessee, and in 1949, he married Carolyn Kilbourne. He returned to the Navy in 1950 to serve in Korea, as Interior Communications Officer 1st Class.

He was employed for 30 years by Shell Oil Company in staff engineering management. After retirement, Frank and Carolyn traveled to Canada, Europe, and Mexico. Frank was active in the Norris Religious Fellowship, participated in regular reunions with the crew of his naval vessel, the USS Franks, and traveled with other WWII veterans to Washington, DC with the Honor Air Program. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and first great-grandchild.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Doris Horner. He is survived by his wife, his four children Judith (Dave Gooch), Jane, Richard (Victoria) and Bradley (Racquel), five grandchildren (Nick Gooch, Steven Stribling, Hanah Cates, Rebecca Stribling, and Jillian Stribling), one great-grandchild (Samantha Gooch), and eight nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Ben Atchley TN Veteran's Home and Smokey Mountain Hospice for exceptional care and support.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 26, at Norris Religious Fellowship, with reception following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Norris Religious Fellowship or to the Foothills Land Conservancy.
