Gary Wayne Scott, of Knoxville Tennessee, passed away at home with his wife and two children by his side. Gary was a son, husband, father, friend and Marine.

As a husband, he never let a day pass without a smile, a deep laugh and a full devotion of love... not one day!

As a Father, there was no drive too long, no milestone unnoted or uncherished, and he never passed an opportunity to show his love or embarrass his children in front of their friends.

As a son, he remembered every birthday and would hold his mother's hand.

As a marine, he was a Master Sergeant; once a Marine, always a Marine. Semper Fi.

As a friend, his stories were tall, filled with humor and more fish than any one man deserves, and full of genuineness, care and engagement.

Gary is survived by his wife and partner in life, Vonnie Scott; his two children and their spouses, Christopher and Lexie Scott, Teresa Lawson-Payne and Shannon Payne; his grandchildren, Cooper Rae Payne, Carolyn Kendell Lawson, Elijah Carter Payne, Charlee Presley Payne and Henri and Stella Scott; His Mother-in-law, Lorraine Glessner; Sister and Brother-in-law, Judy and Tim Fyock and their children; Brother and Sister-in-law Chuck and Amy Glessner and their children; his Sister and Brother-in-law, Kim and Steve Brant.

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday September 13th, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church, 9076 Middlebrook Pike, Knoxville Tn. 37923. Viewing will begin at 5:00, Service at 6:00 and Receiving of Friends from 7:00 until 9:00.

In Lieu of flowers, please bring a donation for the Boy's State Education Program or send to Post 2 American Legion at 5700 Rutledge Pike, Knoxville Tn, 37914. Gary was dedicated to and coordinated the Boy's State Program for many years.
