Harvey Eastman Obituary

EASTMAN, HARVEY - 71, a retired data processing officer with U.S. Bancorp, died June 17th at his home on Tellico Lake after battling liver cancer. A native of Mobile, Alabama, Mr. Eastman graduated from McGill-Toolen High School and received a B.S. in physics from Spring Hill College. At NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, he was one of the early pioneers in the field of computer programming where he worked with Wernher Von Braun and the team that produced the first computer programs for the Saturn V booster rockets used in space flights to the moon. Mr. Eastman was an avid racecar enthusiast and a high speed driving instructor for the Porsche Club in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was also an expert scuba diver, enjoying many trips to the Caribbean. Mr. and Mrs. Eastman moved to Tellico Lake in 2007. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Linda Eastman; his brother, Charles Eastman; daughter, Renee Eastman (husband, Greg Berger, and son, Max); daughter, Kim Devery (husband, Kevin and son, Kolby, and daughter, Kya); daughter, Sarah Brown (daughter, Sarah Browning); daughter, Barbara Cockerham (husband, Scott, and son, Connor). A visitation will be held from 10:45 am to 11:30 am Monday, June 22, 2009, with a funeral mass to follow at 11:30 am at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church in Lenoir City with Father Christian Mathis officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1570 St. Thomas Way, Lenoir City, TN 37772 or the American Cancer Society.
