James Deaton

Lenoir City, TN

Rev. James Jurlon Deaton, age 86, a great soldier and worker for the Lord who ministered unto many as he evangelized and served as Pastor at Smith Grove, Hickory Creek, assistant at Gospel Light and Lighthouse Baptist, charter member of Nelson Street and present member of Hickory Creek Baptist Church during his 62 years of walking with God. This devoted husband and loving father went to be with the Lord at 7:00 p.m. April 21, 2015 surrounded by family and loved ones singing the hymns that he loved.

James was a devoted spouse for 63 years to loving wife, Irene Pilkington Deaton; he will be greatly missed by his children: daughters, Janice (Troy) Smith, Janet (Norman) Hood, Jeanette (late, Jerry) Duggan; sons, James "Bill" (Deborah) Deaton and Jarrett (Tammy) Deaton. James was blessed with and loved by 16 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren.

The eldest son of the late Isaac Abraham and Febie Deaton; brothers and sisters-in-law, the late Murlon and Clara, Stan and late wife, Diana, Farley and Mary Ann, Earl and Caroline; sisters, Lavonda Ervin and Inis Daughtery and late husband, Ori; the late Edie and Lawrence Arp, the late Inez and Jim Newbolds. Beloved by many and blessed to have hundreds call him Pappaw. Blessed with many friendships and special loved ones. The family thanks all those who have walked this journey and were part of his life.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 25th at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Loudon Co. Memorial Gardens. Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City is in charge of arrangements. www.clickfuneralhome.com
