JANE BOYD Obituary

BOYD, JANE CARMICHAEL - age 85, of Knoxville, passed away on Wednesday, January 02, 2013. She was born on June 7, 1927 to the late Floyd E. Carmichael and Evelyn Rausin Carmichael. Jane is a Delta Delta Delta and graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Child Development. She taught kindergarten for 12 years at First United Methodist Church. During her life she had served as the Secretary of the 9' O'Clock cotillion, President of the Tri-Deltas alumni and Tri-Psi (Delta Delta Delta) mother sorority, President of the Cherokee Hills Garden Club, President of the Sigma Chi Mother's club. Jane was the first mother to receive a Sweetheart Pin two times for her work with the fraternity. She also taught Sunday School, led Jr. and Sr. High Fellowship group for 7 years (with Jack). Jane was chairman of the Deacon's Board, a member of the session, chairman of the Presbyterian Women, chairman of the Christian Education Committee 3 times, and chairman of the board of the Pre-School of Second Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Nancy Wolfe; daughter, Evelyn Boyd Clarke. Jane is survived by her loving husband, John P. "Jack" Boyd, Sr.; daughter, Becky Boyd Caruso, husband Jim and son Wil of Atlanta, GA; son, John P. Boyd, Jr., wife Marty, and children Jessica and Jay of Athens, TN; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 5, at 12:30pm at Second Presbyterian Church with Dr. Bryan Wilson and Rev. Harry Cronis officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be private. John, Jack, Becky and family.... I am so sorry for your loss. My memories of all of you and "Aunt Jane" will be with me forever. The times while we were growing up and Jane always being so kind and giving...and foregiving! I know the pain of losing a mother as well as a sibling and daughter is hard...but be happy for they are together again for eternity. I'm sorry I just now read about her passing and missed being there for you. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I already miss that smile. The way she smiled with every square inch of her face. I guess smiling came so easily and so often it was almost permanently affixed.
