John Coleman Obituary

John Henry (Lucky) Coleman

Knoxville - John Coleman, age 99, passed peacefully from this earth on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Life Care of Blount County in Louisville, TN. after a brief illness. He was born December 16, 1921 in Knoxville, TN and graduating from Knoxville High School in 1940. John married the love of his life, Ruth Beaver Coleman, in the early forties. John attended Draughon's Business College and in 1945, founded John H. Coleman Heating and Air Company at the young age of twenty-four. He retired from his company in 1995. John was a longtime member of Island Home Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Optimist Club and Holston Hills Country Club. John's favorite pastime was loading his wife and friends in his RV and traveling to destinations far and wide. He had a passion for eating hearty meals in fine restaurants in Knoxville and spending afternoons fishing on Norris Lake. John will be remembered as an astute businessman and a socially adept fellow by all who knew him. John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruth Beaver Coleman and his parents, Ollie Coleman and Mayme Ruggles Coleman. He is survived by his loving sister, Helen Coleman Akard of Knoxville. The family is very grateful for the attentive care given him by his long-time caretaker, Ruth Lynch. Arrangements are being handled by Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway. A graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, 4500 Woodlawn Pike on Tuesday, February 23rd at 11:00 a.m. with Charles Mulligan officiating. John had requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Salvation Army or the East Tennessee Alzheimer's Association in his memory.
