Katherine Eldridge Peters Rutherford, age 86, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away Monday, February 26, 2018 at Shannondale Healthcare Center with her nieces beside her.

She is preceded in death by husband, Kurt Peters and husband, Bill Rutherford; parents, William and Nell Eldridge; siblings, Juanita Mankel (Frank), Robert Eldridge (Loraine), Patsy Rouser (Dick), Maxine Bishop (Ernest), Carson Eldridge (Dorothy), Nellie Boehms (Sam), Joe Eldridge (Dorothy) and Gary Eldridge (Peggy); nieces, Patricia Rouser, Sally Browning and nephew, Bill Eldridge. Katherine is survived by four nieces who took special care of her, Rosemary Kite, Diana Green, Becky McBride and Carol Clift, many other nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews; stepson, Gary Rutherford (Adaline) and step grandson, Stephen Rutherford (Kristen).

Katherine graduated from Knoxville High School and had a long career in banking. She began as a teller at Park National Bank and after working in many areas of the bank became their first female branch manager in Knoxville. After retiring from Park she also worked for First Knoxville Bank and Home Federal Bank.

Katherine grew up in Little Brick Presbyterian Church. After marriage she and Kurt became long time members of St. John's Lutheran Church. She loved working as a volunteer at St. John's as well as volunteering at Blount Memorial Hospital in the gift shop.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Shannondale Healthcare Center for their excellent and loving care of Katherine while living there.

A celebration of Katherine's Life will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 544 North Broadway, Knoxville, TN 37917, on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 2:00p.m. The family will welcome friends at a reception following the service in the fellowship hall. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice. Arrangements by Cremation Options, Inc.
