I would like to offer my sincerest heart-felt sympathy to Mr. McCloud's family. He was one of a vanishing breed - the Pearl Harbor Survivors.

My father, Joe Kelly, was also a survivor of the Pearl Harbor bombing. He and I always attended the December 7th commemorative ceremonies at the Veterans' Cemetery. It was there that we met Mr. McCloud and came to know him.

Even though my dad has been gone for 10 years now, I still attend the Commemoration Ceremonies each year. I think it is important that we all remember the sacrifices these fellas made - even after they're gone.

Although I miss Poppy every day, I know he's in a much better place. And I'm pretty sure he will greet Mr. McCloud at the gates of Heaven with a hearty salute and a warm embrace.

May you all find peace in the memories you carry in your heart and mind.
