Michael Orrick Obituary
Alcoa - Michael Dwayne Orrick, age 61 of Alcoa, formerly of Rutledge, passed away peacefully at the University of Tennessee Medical Center on July 23, 2021.
Mike was saved as a teenager at Noah's Chapel American Christian Church, where he came under conviction of the Holy Spirit as the Reverend Andy Vance preached the gospel.
During his lifetime Mike had been an avid coon hunter, tobacco farmer, cattle farmer, and horseback rider. He also shared the love of baseball with his sons and grandson. However, the most precious titles Mike had received (besides that of Christian) was Dad and Paw Mike.
Mike started working at the age of sixteen at Renfro Construction where he operated their grease truck. He later worked for TVA and for Johnson & Galyon Construction Co. as a laborer. During his time at Johnson & Galyon, he became a crane operator. After a few years he went to work for Powell Construction where be become known as one of the best and smoothest crane operators in East Tennessee. At the time of his death Mike was a heavy haul driver for All Crane Rentals of Tennessee.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Louise Pique; grandparents Fate and Jessee Orrick; and sisters Connie Swiney and Tammy Pique.
Mike is joined in his passing by his wife, Faith Orrick, who succumbed to cancer only 4 hours after his death. He is survived by his sons, Josh (Alyssa) Orrick of Maynardville, and Aden Orrick of the home; stepson Cole Robertson of the home; his grandchildren Jett and Evie Rose Orrick; step grandchildren, Taylor, Tanner, and Teagan Monroe; Brothers Ricky (Brenda) Pique, Robert Pique, Scott (Kim) Pique all of Rutledge; sister Freda (Wayne) Matthews of White Pine; former wife of 19 years, Debbie Phipps; special aunts Rosie Orrick, Pat Walters, and Kathy Harbin; and uncle LC Orrick. There are also, a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 27 from 6-8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Rutledge, TN, with the funeral to follow at 8pm, with Rev. Tommy Frye officiating the services.
