Naomi Shields Obituary

SHIELDS, NAOMI MERRIMAN - born April 11, 1931, passed on to her heavenly Father's hands on Monday, November 28, 2011 Naomi loved her home, her family, and her pets. She was retired from Kays Jewelry and the past several years was spent doing the things she enjoyed about her home. Preceded in death by: parents, Bennie Merriman; mother, Annis Craddock Merriman; brothers, Walter Merriman, Hershell Merriman, Bennie Merriman Jr., Roy Merriman; sisters, Elizabeth Long Brewer and Helen Cutshaw. Survivors include: loving husband of 62 years, Leon Shields; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Merriman, Betty Merriman, and Dorothy Lucas; host of nieces, nephews, friends. Family and friends will assemble for graveside service and interment at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Grandview Cemetery with Rev. Kenny Crooke officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Smoky Mountain Animal Care Foundation, 233 Currie Avenue Maryville, TN 37804. Friends may call at their convenience between the hours of 12:00 Noon until 6:00 PM, Tuesday and on Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 865-983-1000, www.smithmaryville.com.
