I had the great pleasure of working with Paul on some commercials. He was the BEST voice talent I ever worked with and a wonderful gentleman to work with. Adam Smith, formerly Roberts & Russell Advertising.

I worked with Paul at WNOX and later WKGN. When he came to WKGN, I was already there. He came back to the production room, where I was, and said he was happy to be working with me again. I remember the night of the ice storm, our all-night guy couldn't get to the station. I worked a double shift taking phone calls, including one from Mayor Randy, who was calling all the stations to tell people to stay off the streets. Paul had some kind of four-wheel drive and managed to get to the station around 5am. I remember how happy he was that I recorded the conversation with the Mayor that he was able to use some sound bites on his morning newscast. Paul was also a great talk-show host. I can still remember him talking about being raised on "sawmill" gravy. Mike Johnson Daytona Beach, Florida

uncle paul taught me four things i use to this day, dress nice , shake hands firmly, drive a nice car and ALways HAVE CASH ON HAND, as a great nephew simply being around uncle paul gave me sence of accomplishment. He taught me that first impressions were everything, that has lasted as well as served me since the age of 10. He took me for my first motor cycle ride on one of his gold wings, and to this day I love riding. aunt bobbie I can say was the first true lady I have ever known, I love her, and sadly I miss the spaghetti dinners held at their home. thank you both for being such a positive influence on me.
god bless,
loveyou,
knuck

It was pleasure to help care for Mr. Brown during his illness. I only knew him for a short time, but will miss him for a long time. Mrs. Brown, you will be missed also.

To the entire family :
I regret hearing of the loss from the Brown family.
I have been told of many good things while growing up.
It appears I would have been blessed to know Uncle Paul.
My name is Ralph Edward Brown,Jr "Eddie".
The son of Butch and Janice Brown.
I would love to make contact with someone in reference to this branch of the Browns.
Isn't it funny how the loss of a family member makes you want to know them more.
My family's prayers are with you.
God Bless

Paul was a real giant in radio terms. He had the kind of voice all radio announcers would like to have had. He was never boring. When I was at WNOX he did the news and I was the jock. He would always close, "This is Paul Oscar Anderson, AND I THANK you!" Sounded like thunder!
Paul perfected the "Man bites Dog" story.
He covered the antics of local government. Called Mary Lou Horner "Mary Lou, You know who". And relished calling Mayor Kyle Testerman "King Kyle". He was a listener magnet.
He liked to do stories that raised the thought and often the temperatures of people in the area. WNOX could be heard from Harrogate to Chattanooga.
I remember him from NBC monitor on weekends when he worked at fabled Rockefeller Center. Also he did a year ending nationally syndicated show "Rewind".
I also remember him as a generous man who took me under his wing and taught me some never to forget principals of sales at 'The East Tennessee Business Journal' in 1985 and 1986.
He was a talent who came from humble beginnings in Lake City, Tn. I will always remember him in his suits and Tom James button down collar shirts, starched, pressed, with a tie.
He was an announcer's announcer. You had to learn from just being around him, in a place that was populated over history by giants: Perkle, Idol, Williams, Ashcroft, Blanchard.
I am the richer for having known him and worked with him.

i was saddened to hear of Paul's passing. He was a definite force in Knoxville radio, and I learned a lot from him during our time at WEZK, as I was getting into the business. I lost contact with Paul after that, but I've never forgotten the things I learned from him.

To Bobbie and all the family our sincere condolences and prayers for this difficult time. We remember that distinct voice well and still find ourselves saying just as he did 35+ years ago when narrating as the North Knoxville choir sang The Church Triumphant - -"Goddddd has always had a people......!"
May God bless you.

Dear Bobbie and Family:
Words cannot express what Paul meant to our family. I feel like yuoo already know how much. I can remember even as a little girl Daddy and Paul being togther and then I went to scholl with Mike and Theresa and ended up being freinds with them also. Until the day we lost Daddy, I know that he loved Paul like a brother. You both have been a great support to Mom since Daddy passed. I do not know who I would have rather had tell me stories, Paul or Daddy but when they got together talking about them it was really great. We will miss him so very much. However, I know that Daddy is there to greet him and see if they can get in some mischeif up in Heaven. Please let us be there for you as you have been for us.
We love you both. Carolyn and Mary

To my mentor and friend, I will never forget you and what you taught me about business and life. You made me a business woman and empowered me to use my full potential and taught me that I was more intelligent than I gave myself credit. I still carry and use all your wonderful marketing tools everyday since I was taught by the best. I feel very priviledged to have had you work with me and know you personally. Your Life stories and quick responses to every situation never ever ceased to amaze me. I hope someone would write your life story it was amazing. You were and have been one of the smartest men I have ever known and I saw your tender heart very often. You will be greatly missed. I will be there for Bobbie when she needs me and pray for your family.
