Philip L. Kienlen

KIENLEN, PHILIP L. - age 60, of Rockwell, Texas, formerly of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Passed away March 5, 2009. During the years he lived in Oak Ridge, Phil worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Ecclesiastes says that there is nothing new under the sun, but Phil didn't believe that. He was an original thinker who constantly sought new solutions to problems (including running for political office). Phil was energetic and athletic; he played softball and tennis, and for many years he coached youth sports, including his sons' teams. Phil also loved animals, especially German shepherds. Phil is survived by his sons, Andrew and Alexander Kienlen, who live in Heath, Texas. Phil's face always lit up when he talked about Andy and Alex, and he was quick to say that he was a very fortunate man because of his sons. He is also survived by a sister, Sharon Clark; a sister-in-law, Linda Kienlen; three former wives; and seven nieces and nephews. Phil's parents, Kenneth and Hattie Letts Kienlen; brother, Stephen Kienlen; and nephew, Christopher Clark, are no longer living. Phil's death was caused by CADASIL, a hereditary stroke disorder.
