Dear Bettye,

You and your family have been on our prayer list since we learned of Richard's worsening condition during our visit with Don and Jean aDt Shanty Creek, only to get the news of his call to heaven last week.
Our too few times together with you and your dear friends, the Youells and Jollys, Cathy and I have grown to love you and Richard. I will always admire his numerous words of wisdom and honesty. We will miss him and will share in your grief in the coming difficult days. God bless you and your family.

Dick was my boss at Y-12 many years ago. I never met a better man than him. He took me under his wing and brought out the best in me & put me on the path to a good career of my own. He was the first boss to ever see that I had potential & he pushed me hard to get better. For that I am eternally grateful. Dick lived his faith each & every day. Proud to call him my friend & mentor.
