Robert Rhyne Obituary

Robert "Barney" Rhyne

Powell, TN

Robert Allen "Barney" Rhyne, age 57, of Powell, went to be with his Savior Thursday, January 7, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was plant manager of the engineering department at St. Mary's (Tennova) Hospital for 34 years. He was a lifelong member of Powell Church. Barney's family was his life. He was the most fun loving husband, loyal son, special brother, sweetest and most genuine dad, proudest papaw, and such a devoted friend and co-worker to many. He was full of life, never allowing a dull moment when he was around. His smile, laugh, and overall joy for life was infectious. He was the handiest of handymen and loved to figure things out anytime help was needed. There was nothing he could not fix and always came up with ways to save the day, no matter the situation.

Mr. Rhyne was preceded in death by granddaughter Mabry Kate Webb, father Sonny Rhyne, and father-in-law Charlie R. Poe. Survivors include wife of 32 years Teresa Poe Rhyne; daughters Christin Rhyne Webb and husband Kyle, and Carley Rhyne Wuellenweber and husband Kyle; grandsons Owen Baxter Webb and Parker Brooks Wuellenweber; mother Nancy Stout Rhyne; sister Robin Rhyne Pankey and husband Keith; sister-in-law Sherral Poe; mother-in-law Charlotte Walsh and husband Ed, and nieces Lindsey and Lacey Pankey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hunter's Hope in honor of his beloved granddaughter, Mabry Kate or American Heart Association in honor of Barney Rhyne or Lisa Cannon Cunningham.

The family will receive friends 4:00-7:00 pm Sunday at Powell Church (United Methodist), 323 West Emory Road, Powell, TN 37849, with funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Brian Davis officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 am Monday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for interment at 11:00 am. Serving as pallbearers are Jim Wright, Richard Hall, Greg Davis, Don Haas, Doug Roberts, Kyle Webb, Kyle Wuellenweber, and Condon Radford. Honorary pallbearers will be the Engineering Department at St. Mary's/Tennova Hospital. Mynatt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.mynattfh.com

I hope you understand that when people write "Sorry for your loss ", it is only because they can't put together words together to describe what they are wanting to express to you during this time. With that said, sorry for your loss. God Bless. Tracey Macfarland Cath Lab

Barney was one of the best Christian examples I have ever been blessed to work with, and I've worked at the hospital for 26 years. Last year I nominated Barney for an 'Employee of the Quarter Award' for so many extra-special things he did to help the health system, and he won the award, and was formally recognized by top leadership in front of his department. He always went the extra mile. When the roads were icy, he and his wife Teresa would come pick me up and drive me safely to work and back home. I appreciated him so much. He was my friend. We would talk about losses in our lives, and how Jesus always carried us through our problems. His heart was full of love for his wife, children and his precious grandbabies. He is surely holding baby Mabry now. He also genuinely loved his coworkers in the Engineering department. I'm thankful they were blessed to have a manager and friend like him.

I will think of Barney in every snow, and how he helped me and my family many times. Psalm 121.
