Roy Shubert Obituary

Roy Shubert

Loudon, TN

Roy Eugene Shubert, age 93 of Loudon, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 11, 2017. Roy was born to the late William Henry and Pauline (McCloud) Shubert in Loudon, Tennessee. He attended Loudon High School until he was 17 at which time he dropped out and headed to the shipyards of Norfolk, Virginia to assist in the war efforts. At 19, he entered the US Navy and served his country during WWII. Roy returned home and became employed with the Union Carbide Corporation (28 years), lived a quiet life with wife, Blanche and together they raised 5 children. Roy was a faithful lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Loudon. He would want people to know he was a child of God and he loved Jesus; which was evident if you met him. He was a friend to many. He was easily approachable with an even and gentle humor that drew you in. He was beloved by his neighbors and was a regular "pool shark" at the Senior Citizen Center where he could be found virtually every day. He was adored by his children and they were adored by him.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his devoted wife Blanche (Wilson) Shubert, son, Bob Shubert; siblings, Helen, Hazel, Edna, Bill and Vaughn and a great grandson, James.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha and George Dancigers, Sarasota, Marilyn "Biddy" and Tom Gilman, Knoxville, Jane Kirk, Vonore and Jill Shubert, Loudon; grandchildren, Corey, Emmy, Matthew, Mark, Kristy, Sam, Sara, Hannah, Callie, Johnna and Morgan; 14 great grandchildren with one on the way; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Services honoring and remembering Roy Shubert will be held 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 14th, First Baptist Church, Loudon with Rev. Jim Best, Rev. Fred Cook and Mr. Jeff Harris officiating. Interment 11:00 AM Thursday, June 15th in Loudon County Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the US Navy and the Loudon County Veterans Honor Guard.
