Troy Gerald "Gerry" Chapman

Troy Chapman Obituary

CHAPMAN, TROY GERALD "GERRY" - 54, passed away quietly early Friday morning. He was the proud father of Garrett Chapman, and loving husband of Martha Knight-Chapman. Gerry was an avid motorcyclist and loyal friend to many. The second of three boys to Troy C. Chapman (deceased) and Mary (Lil) Chapman. His mother and brothers, Darrell and Ron, will miss him greatly. Gerry loved sharing his passion for motorcycles, boats, and all things mechanical with his son Garrett, to whom he dedicated his life, and took every opportunity to ride with his son, wife, and friends. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee (Knoxville). He worked in the medical profession for the past 20 years. He had recently begun to pursue an engineering degree. He is survived by: wife, Martha Knight Chapman; son, Garrett Chapman; step-daughter, Cortney Knight; mother, Mary (Lil) Chapman; brothers, Darrell W. Chapman and wife Crystal Chapman from Georgia; Ronald M. Chapman and wife Laura Chapman from Florida; uncles, Charles Powell (deceased) and wife Charlotte Powell from Maryville, TN; Wendell Powell and wife Diane from Georgia; nephew, Jamie Chapman, his wife Laura, and their daughter Molly; nephew, Travis and wife Jennifer Chapman; and many more nieces and nephews. It is Gerry's wish that we celebrate his life instead of mourning his passing. A memorial service will be held for the immediate family Sunday, 1:00 p.m., April 2, 2006. A separate memorial service will be scheduled for Sunday, April 9th at 12:00 p.m. for all friends that wish to celebrate his life. The service will be at his home, 2712 Hodge Rd., Knoxville. Immediately after, there will be a memorial ride from Karns to Maryville in honor of Gerry. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Gerry's name to the Pellissippi State Foundation, P. O. Box 22990, Knoxville, TN 37933-0990. Arrangements by Cremation Options, Inc. (865) 6WE-CARE (693-2273) www.cremationoptionsinc.com.

To Martha, Garrett, and Courtney my thoughts and prayers are with you all. Gerry was a wonderful friend and you all were so loving to me when John passed away. I know those two are now "Riding with the Son". My love and compassion to you all.

I am sorry to read about Gerry's passing. We became friends through an auto parts store that I managed. He was always nice and friendly. He was a fair person and we all enjoyed dealing with him.

I met Gerry through my Father, Sonny who use to work with Gerry selling insurance. I was like a son to Gerry and always enjoyed being around him. His sense of humor and love for life will be missed. I pass along my sympathies to Gerry's family and will keep them in my prayers.
