AVILLA - It is with heavy hearts, our family would like to share with you the passing of our mother, Daisy Edwards. Mom joined many loved ones in the arms of our Father on Monday, March 10, 2025.
She was born on Nov, 10, 1934, to Forrest and Verna Owen, in Allen Township, Noble County, Indiana. She was one of 10 siblings, and the last surviving. She turned 90 last November.
Daisy graduated from Avilla High School in 1952. She enjoyed attending class reunions through the years.
She married John Edwards on Dec. 15, 1954. Dad preceded her in death in 2002.
Together they had five children, Greg (Joy) Edwards, Mark (deceased 2006) (Holly) Edwards, Doug (Becky) Edwards, Bev (Daryl Oster) Krafft and Joyce, Wayne (deceased 2024) Jester. She had 16 grandkids; and 18 great-grandkids.
Living in rural Avilla most of her life, Mom spent most of her time raising us kids and helping on the farm doing chores, growing a garden and taking care of everyone's needs. As we were older she enjoyed working at Kraft Foods for many years.
In her later years, she moved from the farm and lived in Fort Wayne, until finally moving to live with Bev.
Once grandkids arrived, it was special for her. She displayed a sign that read, "If I knew grandkids were this much fun, I would have had them first". Reading books, doing puzzles, playing cards and board games were the highlights of all with her. She was famous for knowing everyone's favorite meal and preparing it at special times. Her grandkids especially enjoyed the chocolate chip pancakes on sleepovers. We all spent many Sunday afternoons and evenings gathered around Mom's table.
Funeral services will be held at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville, Indiana, on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
Viewing will be as follows: Family at 10 a.m., friends at 11 a.m., with services to follow at noon.
