LIGONIER - On the evening of May 18, 2024, at 8:30 p.m., the heavens welcomed one of their most precious souls. Donna Feightner was born on July 18, 1932, to Matthew "Jack" and Geraldine Tracy, and was an adored and beloved sister to Jackie Tracy, all of whom preceded her. From her earliest days Donna absorbed the profound family values imparted by her loving parents, values that she would embrace and pass down to her own children.
Donna founded her family with Homer "Sonny" Feightner, with whom she shared nearly 63 years before his passing, and three children. The favorite eldest son, Douglas (Julie) Feightner. The favorite youngest son, Mark Feightner. And last but not least the favorite daughter, Trish (Tom) "Feightner" Smith. Each held a very special place in Donna's heart and remains now and always very close.
Donna also shared more than 55 years of laughter and support with her best friend Rosemary Gillispie. Rosemary was more than a friend, rather a "Sister" to Donna. Intertwined into the fabric of her life sharing every moment and milestone with each other and their families.
Donna's professional journey was marked by 40-plus years of service to Tower Ribbons, where she cultivated lifelong friendships and cherished memories. She was not just a colleague but a family member as well.
In her way she made everyone around her feel like her most favorite person in the world. Her love of family was unwavering. Time spent together she cherished most of all.
Donna was a compassionate, patient caretaker of wayward animals. Many found their way to the "Donna Feightner Animal Shelter" for whom she found homes for or found a home with her.
Donna leaves a notable legacy behind in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Zachary and (Teresa) Feightner and their children, Nikki, Beth, Jacob and Zoey; Haley and (Max) Cundiff and their son, Carson Cundiff; Tori and (Travis) Bunn; Mallory Kraner (Tyler Wilson); Maddie Kraner; Megan and (John) Sproat and their children, Harper, Paisley and Camden and Shane Smith.
The family wishes to extend gratitude to the staff at Chandler House for their exceptional care during Donna's time there and to Heart to Heart Hospice for their compassion and respect in bringing comfort to Donna in her final days.
Donna was a strong and independent person, who loved her family and friends with great compassion and loyalty, and will be missed by all who were lucky enough to share a piece of her life.
Thank you "Grandma" Donna for being a force in our lives and for driving and guiding us to be the best that we can be in all things. You will be in our hearts always.
A celebration of Donna's life will be held at 6 p.m., on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767.
