KENDALLVILLE - Helen Dorothy Wilhelmina (Persson) Lute, age 97, of Kendallville, Indiana, passed on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Sacred Heart Home in Avilla.
Mrs. Lute was born in Chicago, Illinois, on June 14, 1928, to Swedish immigrants, Carl Adolf Persson and Britta (Lindel) Persson.
She graduated from Morgan Township High School, near Valparaiso, Indiana.
She married Eugene Wesley Lute on Sept. 23, 1950, in Valparaiso. Eugene preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1988.
Helen was a devoted farm wife, loving mother and caring homemaker. She loved spending time with her family, and she brought a smile to everyone's face with her quirky wit and funny personality.
Survivors include sons, Timothy and Dian Lute, of Fort Wayne and Benjamin Lute and Christine Uskert, of Crown Point, Indiana; daughter-in-law, Judy Lute, of Valparaiso; five grandchildren, Kyle Lute Black, Jennifer Lute (Walter) Costella, Brianne Lute (Joe) Gratz, Eric (Katy) Lute and Aaron Lute; eight great-grandchildren, Lisa Lute, August Costella, Liam Costella, Olivia Gratz, Alice Gratz, Winter Lute, Chloe Lute and Eli Lute.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Britta Persson; her husband, Eugene Lute; daughter, June Lute, who died on May 26, 2001; and her sister, Birgit "Gale" Mayfield.
Helen will be laid to rest next to her husband at a later date at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Crown Point.
