LaVonne Lang Obituary

LAKE CITY, Fla. — LaVonne Jane (Ruff) Lang, 74, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at her home in Lake City, Florida. LaVonne was born Nov. 10, 1943, in Parkston, South Dakota, to Albert and Amanda (Batterman) Ruff.
LaVonne had a full and wonderful life of traveling with her husband, Doug, and making fond memories to places such as Australia, Cuba and Alaska. Trips to Disney were always in store for anyone visiting the Lang household in Florida. LaVonne also thoroughly enjoyed their summer travels to Indiana, South Dakota and Texas where she and Doug spent time with family and friends.
LaVonne, or "Vonnie" as she was known to many, never met a stranger. She touched many lives with her warm heart as well as high-spirited personality that could bring out a giggle or smile to every face. There was never a dull moment when you were in the room with her. Her smile and giggles will be deeply missed.
LaVonne is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Amanda Ruff; and her brother, Jerry Ruff.
LaVonne is survived by her husband, Douglas Lang; daughter Dawn (Lang) Abbott and husband Doug Abbott and their daughter, Whitney Abbott; son Todd Lang and Karen Hollman, Todd's daughters Alison Lang, Chelsea Lang and Bryttany (Lang) Holden and great-granddaughter Adilyn Holden; and son Jeff Lang and wife Teresa Lang and Jeff's daughters, Meagan Lang and Ashley Lang.
A memorial celebration will be held June 23 from 1-3 p.m. at the Spencerville Community Club, Spencerville, Indiana. Her burial will be at St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Armour, South Dakota, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved family that has passed before.
