KENDALLVILLE - Lawrence Joseph "Larry" Trowbridge Sr., age 78, of Kendallville, died unexpectedly Monday, Nov. 26, 2018, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Mr. Trowbridge was born Oct. 23, 1940, to Jack Delmer Trowbridge (1988) and Thelma Clara (Smith) Trowbridge (1998) at the family home on Lisle Street in Kendallville.
He graduated from Kendallville High School in 1959 and married Nyda Dell Gillespie on Sept. 2, 1961, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Avilla. Larry was employed for 26 years with Autojectors in Albion and Avilla before retiring in 2001. He loved hunting and fishing, woodworking, gardening, playing cards, working outdoors and spending time with his family.
Survivors include: wife, Nyda Trowbridge of Kendallville; son, Larry Trowbridge Jr. of Kendallville; daughter, Clara and Alan Lehman of Indianapolis; his dogs, Smokey and Copper; sister, Helen Gillespie of Garrett; sister, Judy Prestchold of Mount Prospect, Illinois; sister, Lois Jean Fredrickson of Kendallville; sister, Karen and Allan Conrad of Elkhart; sister, Janet and Lyle Vian of Corunna; brother, Steve and Pam Trowbridge of Kendallville; brother, Daniel and Dena Trowbridge of Kendallville; and nephews like grandchildren to Larry, Joe and Andrew Trowbridge.
He was preceded in death by nephew, Christopher Trowbridge; sisters, Patricia Engle and Donna Conrad; half-brother, Robert Lee Trowbridge; and mother and father-in-law, Donald and Raeburn (McIntosh) Gillespie.
Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, from 2-7 p.m. at Hite Funeral Home, 403 S. Main St., Kendallville. Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Hite Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Sweet Cemetery near Albion.
Memorial donations may be made to American Legion Post 215, LaGrange.

To Larry's family, sorry for your loss. Jeremiah 29:11, 12 assures us that God is thinking thoughts of peace towards us, to give us a future and a hope, and that if we come and pray to Him, He will listen to us. May that bring you comfort at this difficult time.
