ALBION - Retta Belle Gaff, 89, of Albion, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Lutheran Life Villages, in Kendallville, Indiana.
She was born on July 2, 1935, to James and Lavon (Huntsman) Winebrenner, in Albion, Indiana.
On Oct. 3, 1954, she married J.L. Gaff at Burr Oak Baptist Church, in Albion.
Retta enjoyed working at the local Village Foods grocery store, where she was able to keep up with the town gossip.
She enjoyed reading books and collecting cardinal statues. In her later years she enjoyed living at Lutheran Life Villages and participating in the resident activities.
Surviving Retta are her sons Jack Gaff, of Columbia City and Jim (Elaine) Gaff, of Grand Island, Florida; daughters, Mindy (Doug) Myers, of Albion and Cindy (Steve) Hartley, of Syracuse; daughter-in-law, Teresa Gaff; 14 grandchildren;, 32 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her husband, J.L.; parents, James and Lavon; her son, Joe Gaff; brothers, Donald Winebrenner and Bob Winebrenner; grandchild, Megan Hartley; and grandson-in-law, Chad Thompson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Harper Funeral Homes, Albion Chapel, 771 Trail Ridge Road, Albion.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m., until the time of service, at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Christian Chapel Cemetery in Merriam.
Pallbearers will be Chad Gaff, Aaron Gaff, Jake Gaff, Jeremy Gaff, Joshua Gaff and Dakota Thompson.
