AUBURN - Richard Owen "Dick" Boyd, 73, of Auburn, Indiana, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
He was born on Jan. 4, 1951, in Auburn, Indiana, to Richard Q. and Rosalie (Niles) Boyd.
Dick was a 1971 graduate of DeKalb High School.
He married Diana L. Acker on Aug. 17, 1974, in Auburn, Indiana.
He owned and operated the Silver Moon Skating Station in rural Waterloo. During his time at the skating station, he taught two bears how to skate. He then went to work as a reserve police office for the Waterloo Police Department and later retired as a deputy for the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department. After his retirement, he owned a local security business.
Dick enjoyed working out in his garage on numerous things including cars and mowers. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
Surviving are his wife, Diana Boyd, of Auburn; four children and their spouses, Michael and Kristy Boyd, of Leo, Amanda and Rick Hagewood, of Auburn, Jennifer and Jeff Daughtry, of Waterloo and John and Amanda Boyd, of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren, Skylar (Jessie) Boyd, Logan (Tori) Boyd, Dylian (Kayla) Wetzel, Graysen (Tyler) Parker, Madisen (Braden Smith) Boyd, Owen Boyd, Averi Boyd, John Daughtry, Amber (Frank Copeland) Daughtry, Darrick Hagewood and Lyndsey Hagewood; six great-grandchildren, Raymond Boyd, Noah Copeland, Treavor Copeland, Addi Boyd, Kyle Hall and Karson Hall; and three siblings, Cathy (Joel) Kloepper, of Hamilton, Jackie (Kim) Pfefferkorn, of Auburn and Casey (Kim) Boyd, of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a great grandson, Hayden Wetzel; and four siblings, Balinda Brown, Brenda Rigsby, and two infant sisters, Barbara Boyd and Lilly Boyd.
Services will be 11 a.m., on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with visitation from 10-11 a.m., Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
The Rev. Ron Stambaugh will be officiating.
Burial will take place at Waterloo Cemetery.
Visitation also will be from 3-7 p.m., on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at the funeral home.
